You can't help but have sympathy for her and her plight. The heroine Isabelle is so sweet and such a dreamer. I fell in love with this author's writing and the main characters.
I pretty much stayed up all night reading it (until complete exhaustion took over) because I NEEDED to know what would happen next. It sucks you in from the beginning and doesn't let you go. V&V is a very emotional ride and extremely well-written/eloquent. I am happy to report that it officially ended my book slump! I must say that "Virtue & Vanity" surpassed my expectations and ranks right up there with my other all-time favorite novels. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I found the blurb intriguing. I stumbled upon "Virtue & Vanity's" Goodread's page while searching for a newer dark romance and eventually was able to get an ARC copy. Rereading my favorite Mia Sheridan novels worked for awhile, but I was going insane from the lack of something new that was truly gripping. I'd search Amazon for something new, and then end up completely disappointed. A lot of the novels I planned on reading from my favorite authors got their release dates pushed back, so I've pretty much been in a complete book slump. In recent weeks, I've found it very difficult to find a new romance book that holds my attention for long, or that truly stays with me. While Sebastian unfolds from a monster into Prince Charming right before her eyes, Isabelle finds herself falling under his spell and getting closer to making a choice that might be fatal for both of them. Isabelle has been tricked too many times to believe him, but the devil she bargained with refuses to give up on his mission to earn her forgiveness as well as her heart. In an intriguing turn of events, the same man who had once shattered her to pieces, suddenly starts treating her with extreme care and swears there will be no more pain. But life has strange ways of playing with one’s fate. Without a thread of compassion, he shows her the true meaning of hell, making it abundantly clear her fragile feelings mean nothing to him. By the time she discovers there is real danger hidden behind those captivating green eyes and thick layers of sophisticated appearance, it is too late to escape Sebastian’s cruelty.
